Exceptional vernissage at Centre d'Art Marcel Gagnon
Sainte-Flavie, April 24th, 2009. For our 25th anniversary, Centre d'Art Marcel Gagnon is proud to present the works of art of his artist painters always evolving. The extension of the second floor of the art gallery, 25 years later, as permitted to reunite the family by welcoming another artist painter Jean-Pierre Gagnon. We find among these artists. -Marcel Gagnon, founding father of the art gallery, painter, sculptor and writer. -Guillaume Gagnon, painter artist - colourful characters -Ghislaine Carrier, watercolour painter and writer -Jean-Pierre Gagnon, painter artist - figurative sceneries
Each artist will be happy to exhibit their novelties in front of you, specially for this event. The whole population is invited to come in large numbers to discover or rediscover the appeal of Centre d'Art Marcel Gagnon. When: May 3rd, 2009 A glass of wine and a small snack will be served. Artists and biographies
Guillaume Gagnon (born in 1975) ownerSelf-taught artist painter
Self-taught painter since 1988, he discovers different techniques and particularly prefers acrylic, oil and watercolours. Looking for his own style and more and more passionate the artist discovers and creates his small characters full or life and naïvety. It is behind these different sceneries, full of light and colour that his characters take shape. Since that time, we can notice a constant evolution a stable composition and a mastering of his techniques. From an improved stroke of the brush a bigger self-confidence and a better control in the execution of his paintings, Guillaume polishes up his art form year to year. Since 2004, he paints with oil on a black background. From this technical ease, comes works of art with surprising contrasting effects.
Marcel Gagnon (born in 1945)Painter, sculptor and writer (self-taught)
Painter since 1973, Marcel Gagnon is always in artistic research. Scenery painter at the beginning, he exhibits his paintings here and there in the region and even in Europe. In 1983, he paints a regional cross road which the permanent exhibit takes place at the reception area of Centre d'Art. The painter different from the others by his mystic characters, he dares by integrating "The lady in red" to his collection of paintings, thus giving personality to his works of art. His technique always in progress gives us the chance to discover the importance put on the movement and the intensity of the light that comes out from the spatula painted flowers. Still today he is inspired by regional sceneries. In 2007 always in full evolution he develops a mixed technique incorporating semi-precious stones to his paintings giving them a certain richness. A year later in 2008 we find inside the art gallery wood sculptures also decorated with semi-precious stones next to the cement ones some of which are nicely decorated with mosaic. With an artistic life of more than 30 years Marcel Gagnon is always productive... Decorated by the National Assembly of Québec medalIn 2003, he received from the Deputy Minister Danielle Doyer the "Médaille de l'Assemblée Nationale" (the medal of the National Assembly) to show him gratitude for his amazing personal investment by his many ventures, to the tourist and cultural development in the Mitis area.
Jean-Pierre Gagnon (born in 1971)Self-taught artist painter
Painter since 2001, Jean-Pierre decides to start a new career and changes his life completely. From the job of mechanic he becomes a professional artist painter. Supported by his artist family, he is dedicated to a promising future. Trying different techniques, he soon finds out he prefers oil. His artistic personality is inspired by the warmth of the Gaspésien sceneries; the coast, the bays and the old houses painted with a feel of happiness. These scenarios remind us of our grandparents stories or the ones from our childhood, we are all rocked by the waves and the tides of majestic the Saint-Lawrence River. He likes to create worlds where we can stroll if we feel like it. The colourful skies where the clouds always let a place for the sun and where the houses serve as marks in these full size sceneries. The buildings almost always curtailed, let us believe that the painting goes beyond its real limits. Today Jean-Pierre has nothing to envy from anyone and he has risen to the challenge with brilliance. He has been able to leave his mark and to get other painters to recognize him as one of theirs. Let yourself be taken by the very bright colours that make you travel on the frontier between naïve and figurative art.
Ghislaine Carrier (born in 1945)Watercolour painter and writer
From her job as a hairdresser, she soaks herself little by little with the artistic world that surrounds her. It's in 1992 proud to have finished raising her four children that she decides to think about herself a little more. She involves herself in her passion for painting by training and participating to many realizations that make her known more and more in the art work. Her favourite techniques are watercolour and acrylic. Her paintbrush when in contact with water and paint gives her an easier and spontaneous handling, which gives all its importance to the pigmentation. From this hand movement and this fusion are born subjects full of light and transparency. Always looking for new techniques, she participates to many workshops in the region. More and more at ease with her hand movement, the watercolours that she does fill us with her softness and her feminity. Her flowers among other things show a sensuality and a tenderness that touch us. A couple of years ago Ghislaine was exhibiting her paintings in her workshop always trusting and having never doubted herself and her talent. She now exhibits her works of art beside the ones of the people she loves and she invites you to share her big achievements. |
